UTLA PLANS TO STRIKE ON MONDAY
United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) has rejected Los Angeles Unified’s revised offer without proposing any counter offer.  UTLA has refused to continue contract negotiations over the weekend. About 48 hours remain until Monday when UTLA plans to strike.

Yearbook Cover Art Contest
Calling all artists and future artists! Do you like to draw or paint? The Kenter Kaleidoscope (our school yearbook) is in need of a CREATIVE, IMAGINATIVE, ORIGINAL, and INSPIRATIONAL cover! PARENTS’ PLAYWORKS GAME TIME
Due to inclement weather on Dec. 6th, 2018, this event is postponed until after the winter break. The Junior Coaches were prepared and excited about helping with this opportunity.   Those student leaders will be included when the Parents' Playworks Day is rescheduled. Ample notice will be provided to parents when a new date is selected for this activity.   Thanks for your understanding.

Utilities Critical Repairs Project Update
The Utility Enhancement Project at Kenter Canyon continues to progress each week.  The outdoor classrooms are in the final stages for the north end of campus.  There are punch list items to be addressed by the construction company.  The anticipated completion date is March 15, 2019.  Click here for the presentation that was shown at the community meeting on Feb. 2nd, 2017.

A message from Dr. Terry L. Moren, Principal

Kenter Canyon School is delighted to have you join our community and become an integral part of your child’s education.  Kenter Canyon offers a unique experience to its students because of the collaboration  between its dedicated staff and the incredible involvement of its parents.  The parent is the child’s first teacher and plays an integral part of their child’s learning process.  I believe we must work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment that teaches children how to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens, as well as thinkers, discoverers, and inquirers. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the children at Kenter.  I hope that you will become involved in your child’s classroom as well as the parent involvement opportunities afforded through our Parent Support Group (PSG), Governance Council, School Site Council, and school activities.  We need volunteers to help with classroom activities, school-wide functions, traffic safety, special projects, enrichment activities, field trip supervision and committee work.  Look for periodical announcements inviting you to TwT “Tea with Terry” socials----“TwT is an opportunity to join me for an informal chat about Kenter Canyon.  Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of children. We need parents to help us be involved in solutions, not just reporting problems.  Together, we can make ordinary things extraordinary. (more…)
