Kenter Canyon's beloved grade 5 teacher left for Israel to spend Spring Break with family.  When he landed, he did not expect to endure a medical emergency with his two year old son.  His son was hospitalized for several days before being discharged to go to a relative's home to continue home care. Mr. Risman and his five-year old daughter returned to enable both to return to their respective schools.  Students in Room 204 are eagerly awaiting to welcome their teacher to their classroom on Monday morning (May 20th).
The ordeal has resulted in mounting unexpected expenses for Mr. Risman's family. Should any Kenter Canyon family wish to send words of encouragement or provide a monetary support to the Risman Family, a collection box is provided in the Main Office for such generous and giving hearts. For checks, make them payable to Matthew Risman.
We look forward to Mr. Risman's return to our school, but we continue to keep positive thoughts and prayers that his wife and son will be back home in the near future.
We also extend our gratitude to Rebecca Brotman, Substitute Teacher, for keeping in touch with Mr. Risman and administering SBAC to Room 204 students.  Ms. Brotman will be retained to help in Room 204 on May 20th and 21st.

Students and staff are encouraged to wear "Red, White and Blue" on June 4 as it is Election Day. Kenter Canyon Auditorium is a polling site. We want our students to appreciate the freedoms of this great country and watch democracy in action as adults go to the auditorium to vote----a right we hope our students will exercise when they are voting age. The June 4 election is the Measure EE item. Let's allow our community to see how patriotic our kids can be on June 4. Any student who wears any visible part of their clothing that includes red, white and blue will receive a US flag. With Flag Day and Independence Day on calendars within the next few weeks, it's never too early to share patriotism and pride in being in America. Please click here for the flyer.

Welcome to Kenter Canyon!
A message from Dr. Terry L. Moren, Principal

Kenter Canyon School is delighted to have you join our community and become an integral part of your child’s education.  Kenter Canyon offers a unique experience to its students because of the collaboration  between its dedicated staff and the incredible involvement of its parents.  The parent is the child’s first teacher and plays an integral part of their child’s learning process.  I believe we must work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment that teaches children how to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens, as well as thinkers, discoverers, and inquirers. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the children at Kenter.  I hope that you will become involved in your child’s classroom as well as the parent involvement opportunities afforded through our Parent Support Group (PSG), Governance Council, School Site Council, and school activities.  We need volunteers to help with classroom activities, school-wide functions, traffic safety, special projects, enrichment activities, field trip supervision and committee work.  Look for periodical announcements inviting you to TwT “Tea with Terry” socials----“TwT is an opportunity to join me for an informal chat about Kenter Canyon.  Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of children. We need parents to help us be involved in solutions, not just reporting problems.  Together, we can make ordinary things extraordinary. (more…)
