Pajamarama!
While the parents are away, the kids will play!  Drop your kids off at Pajamarama while you have fun at the Kenter Gala on March 11.  Pizza, drinks and snacks will be served. Curated Wine Baskets for Gala
We’re putting together a custom collection of Kenter Parents’ favorite wines for the silent auction at the upcoming gala.  So if you’d like to participate, we ask that you please donate one of your favorite bottles of wine.  It’s that simple!  You donate ONE bottle (or a few if you feel so inclined)… and you may just end up winning an entire collection of Kenter Parents’ favorites.  The more people participate, the more valuable the prize!  Collection location will be at the Pruitt house, just south of the school on Kenter Avenue.  For more information, click here.

Breaking Barriers Essay Contest
Calling all 4th and 5th graders! Each year April 15 marks the anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball in 1947. Honoring this important event, the Breaking Barriers Essay Contest is a chance for diverse students across the country to share their personal stories and how they use Jackie Robinson’s nine values to face their own barriers. Submit your essay by March 14, and the grand prize winner will earn a trip to the 2017 MLB All-Star Game.  Contest rules and information here.
Join the Girl Scouts!
Parents and girls are invited to a meeting on March 6, 2017 at 5:30 PM at Barrington Recreation Center to learn more about forming new Girl Scout troops in our community.  For more information, please see the flyer.
Donation Receipt Letters
It's tax season!  As you prepare your taxes, please note that donation receipt letters for tax purposes were sent via email in November and December 2016.  All donations to Annual Giving are 100% tax deductible. Please contact treasurer@kentercanyon.org if you did not receive the email or to request a duplicate.
Utilities Critical Repairs Project Community Meeting
Thank you to all who attended the parent-community meeting on February 2 to learn about the massive critical utilities repair project at Kenter.  Topics discussed included the urgency of the project, safety of student and staff, the planned phases, and timeline/work schedules.  Here is the presentation that was shown at the meeting.

The Westside Committee of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Palisades Symphony Orchestra are conducting scholarship auditions for young music students. Please read the attached application and information sheet closely if interested, and make note of the deadlines. More information here.

A message from Dr. Terry L. Moren, Principal

Kenter Canyon School is delighted to have you join our community and become an integral part of your child’s education.  Kenter Canyon offers a unique experience to its students because of the collaboration  between its dedicated staff and the incredible involvement of its parents.  The parent is the child’s first teacher and plays an integral part of their child’s learning process.  I believe we must work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment that teaches children how to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens, as well as thinkers, discoverers, and inquirers. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the children at Kenter.  I hope that you will become involved in your child’s classroom as well as the parent involvement opportunities afforded through our Parent Support Group (PSG), Governance Council, School Site Council, and school activities.  We need volunteers to help with classroom activities, school-wide functions, traffic safety, special projects, enrichment activities, field trip supervision and committee work.  Look for periodical announcements inviting you to TwT “Tea with Terry” socials----“TwT is an opportunity to join me for an informal chat about Kenter Canyon.  Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of children. We need parents to help us be involved in solutions, not just reporting problems.  Together, we can make ordinary things extraordinary. (more…)
