Coyote Prowl 2017
READY, SET, GO! Begin collecting pledges for the Coyote Prowl on Monday, April 24! The Coyote Prowl is a spirited, school-wide event that involves all students walking or running laps around the South Yard for pledges. Students are encouraged to collect monetary pledges for their participation in the Coyote Prowl. The pledges they collect is their promise to do their best on the big day, on Thursday, May 4This is a fun way to help our school simply by exercising! 100% of the funds that we’ll raise will benefit Kenter Canyon, and will support all of our enrichment programs, as well as our classroom aides. Last year, we raised over $25,000 and that’s something to be proud of.  Learn more!
Mother-Son Camp-Out 2017
Please join us for the Mother-Son Camp-Out celebrating Moms, Grandmas, Aunts, and Sisters for Mother’s Day! Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 pm.

If you have not ordered your yearbook yet, this is your last chance to guarantee your child's copy. Price is $35, and the easiest way is to order online here.  If you do not preorder now, only a few extra copies will be available for purchase in the office on a first come, first served basis.
Poetry Contest
Enter Kenter's 6th Annual Poetry Contest!  April is National Poetry Appreciation Month, so express yourself through poetry!  All entries must be submitted to Ms. Claudia on or before Friday, May 5, 2017.  For rules, please see flyer.
Leading Together Forum
Parents, staff and students are invited to attend a community forum with Superintendent Michelle King to learn about our journey toward 100% graduation. The forum will feature a presentation about the LA Unified Strategic Plan titled "A District on the Move: Destination Graduation."  The forum will take place on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Webster MS Multi-Purpose Room.  Please see the flyer and info sheet for more information.  
Kindergarten Howdy Day
Calling all incoming kindergartners! Please join us for Howdy Day on May 5, 2017 at 8;45 AM in the auditorium! Come take a tour, meet the teachers and principal Dr. Moren.  You are also invited to our kindergarten playdates at the kinder  yard - May 16 and June 1 from 2-3 PM.  Flyer here.  
Utilities Critical Repairs Project Community Meeting
Thank you to all who attended the parent-community meeting on February 2 to learn about the massive critical utilities repair project at Kenter.  Topics discussed included the urgency of the project, safety of student and staff, the planned phases, and timeline/work schedules.  Here is the presentation that was shown at the meeting.

A message from Dr. Terry L. Moren, Principal

Kenter Canyon School is delighted to have you join our community and become an integral part of your child’s education.  Kenter Canyon offers a unique experience to its students because of the collaboration  between its dedicated staff and the incredible involvement of its parents.  The parent is the child’s first teacher and plays an integral part of their child’s learning process.  I believe we must work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment that teaches children how to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens, as well as thinkers, discoverers, and inquirers. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the children at Kenter.  I hope that you will become involved in your child’s classroom as well as the parent involvement opportunities afforded through our Parent Support Group (PSG), Governance Council, School Site Council, and school activities.  We need volunteers to help with classroom activities, school-wide functions, traffic safety, special projects, enrichment activities, field trip supervision and committee work.  Look for periodical announcements inviting you to TwT “Tea with Terry” socials----“TwT is an opportunity to join me for an informal chat about Kenter Canyon.  Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of children. We need parents to help us be involved in solutions, not just reporting problems.  Together, we can make ordinary things extraordinary. (more…)
