Driver Safety Community Meeting
The LADOT, LAPD, CIty Council, Homeowners and Kenter Parents will assemble on Tuesday, January 17 at 8:30am in Auditorium to discuss solutions for our increasing driver safety concerns near Kenter Canyon. Your attendance is encouraged.
K.I.D.S. Campaign 2017
"Kenter Inspires Driver Safety" (KIDS) Campaign kicks off on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 with a collective effort among students, parents, staff and community.  Kenter kids are encouraged to use their skills learned in Kenter art classes to create a 8.5” X 11” poster that “inspires” safe driving.  Posters are due January 17 in the Parent Center.   One poster from each grade will receive a special award at an upcoming assembly.  Selected student leaders will help create a PSA announcement for Kenter website and to share with all parents. Parent Education Workshop
Two exciting Parent Education Workshops are coming up in January.  On January 17, "School Experience Surveys" will discuss the impact and significance for these surveys.  On January 24, "A-G Requirements" will talk about how A-G college requirements begin in elementary school.  Both workshops start at 8:20 AM in the library.  For more information, please see flyer here.  
Talent Show MC Auditions
The Kenter Canyon Talent Show is coming up! MC Auditions, open to 5th graders only, will be held on January 24 at 2 PM in room 201.  To audition for MC, please sign up here.  For more Talent Show dates and information, click here.
Father Daughter Dance
Kenter's annual Father Daughter Dance will be 5-7 PM on February 11 in the auditorium.  See event flyer here and purchase your tickets in advance here.
School Experience Surveys
School Experience Surveys are coming home soon.  This LAUSD annual survey is designed to give insight into what staff, students and parents think about the learning environment at their school. School accountability is measured using a variety of tools, including participation and results of this survey. We are striving for 100% participation, and students will receive raffle tickets for fun prizes for bringing in their families' completed surveys. For more information, see flyer here.

Winter 2017 After-School Classes

Winter After School Class sign-ups will open this Sunday, January 8, at 9am PST online.  Sign-ups have been changed to be similar to Party Book Sign-Ups, so please use this link to log-in and sign-up for classes.  Note: you may view the Winter After School classes now but you will not be able to sign-up until this Sunday, Jan 8 starting at 9:00am.  For more information on after-school classes, click here.

A message from Dr. Terry L. Moren, Principal

Kenter Canyon School is delighted to have you join our community and become an integral part of your child’s education.  Kenter Canyon offers a unique experience to its students because of the collaboration  between its dedicated staff and the incredible involvement of its parents.  The parent is the child’s first teacher and plays an integral part of their child’s learning process.  I believe we must work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment that teaches children how to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens, as well as thinkers, discoverers, and inquirers. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the children at Kenter.  I hope that you will become involved in your child’s classroom as well as the parent involvement opportunities afforded through our Parent Support Group (PSG), Governance Council, School Site Council, and school activities.  We need volunteers to help with classroom activities, school-wide functions, traffic safety, special projects, enrichment activities, field trip supervision and committee work.  Look for periodical announcements inviting you to TwT “Tea with Terry” socials----“TwT is an opportunity to join me for an informal chat about Kenter Canyon.  Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of children.
