Covid-19 Testing for All Students

Los Angeles Unified School District is offering free COVID-19 tests to all students. Click HERE for flyer. The virus testing program is now underway and it’s time for our school to be tested. We are asking parents to make an appointment for an initial test now to help us prepare for the opening of school for in-person instruction.  Although the date when schools will re-open for in-person instruction is not yet known, taking an initial test now will provide valuable information about the incidence of COVID-19 in the communities we serve.  This information will help the scientists, researchers and epidemiologists who are assisting with the program. The baseline testing will help reduce the spread of the disease by identifying those with the virus so they can be kept apart from others. Immediately prior to reopening of schools, all students and staff who will be returning to schools, will be provided with a further, back-to-school, baseline test.

Please schedule an appointment for your child at https://achieve.lausd.net/covidtestingappt

You will need your child’s student ID number to schedule an appointment.  You may obtain your child’s student ID number by accessing the Parent Portal at https://parentportalapp.lausd.net/parentaccess/ or by calling our LAUSD hotline at 213-443-1300.  Once you’ve made the appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with details.  Please be prepared to show the email on your phone or print out the confirmation and bring it with you to the appointment.

BUY STUDENT BIRTHDAY GREETINGS ON OUR VIDEO MESSAGE BOARD
Students love to see their name on the Kenter Canyon video message board! But the one special day that kids love seeing their name in lights is honoring their birthday. Surprise your child by purchasing a greeting for his or her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ________!!! The message appears for one full week for only $100; however, we are offering it for half price in October 2020 for only $50. You can schedule the greeting for any week during the year, but if you pay for it during the month of October 2020, it will only be $50. Traditionally, the half-price sale is part of the PSG Coyote Connection Online Auction which was scheduled last March when schools closed. While we realize that this may not be as exciting right now while the kids are not physically in school, the marquee runs all year! It is still exciting to drive by and see their names in lights even with school not open. It would make a cute picture as well! As with all events PSG, this is a fundraiser and every contribution this year will save the jobs of our enrichment teachers, aides and support staff. Donate here: https://app.donorview.com/xK5w8

Welcome to Kenter Canyon!
A message from Dr. Terry L. Moren, Principal

Kenter Canyon School is delighted to have you join our community and become an integral part of your child’s education.  Kenter Canyon offers a unique experience to its students because of the collaboration  between its dedicated staff and the incredible involvement of its parents.  The parent is the child’s first teacher and plays an integral part of their child’s learning process.  I believe we must work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment that teaches children how to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens, as well as thinkers, discoverers, and inquirers. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the children at Kenter.  I hope that you will become involved in your child’s classroom as well as the parent involvement opportunities afforded through our Parent Support Group (PSG), Governance Council, School Site Council, and school activities.  We need volunteers to help with classroom activities, school-wide functions, traffic safety, special projects, enrichment activities, field trip supervision and committee work.  Look for periodical announcements inviting you to TwT “Tea with Terry” socials----“TwT is an opportunity to join me for an informal chat about Kenter Canyon.  Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of children. We need parents to help us be involved in solutions, not just reporting problems.  Together, we can make ordinary things extraordinary. (more…)
