Lottery Information

Interested families, please note new application timeline and process:

On April 23, 2019, the Los Angeles Unified Board of Education approved Phase II of the Unified Enrollment (UE) project to include Affiliated Charter Schools.  The UE project was Board approved on June 2017 to create a more convenient, equitable and accessible application process for families.  The updated District Required Language (DRL) modifies Element 8 of the current charter to align with the District’s UE process.  Non-resident attendance boundary families will now apply between October 1 and November 15, 2019 at GoTo.LAUSD.Net or submit a paper application found in the 2020-2021 Choices Brochure.  If there are more applicants than available space, the school will hold a public, random lottery during the month of February 2020.  Resident attendance boundary families will follow current enrollment procedures and do not need to apply through UE.

The classified employee shall record the names in the order drawn for each grade level.
  4. You will be contacted if space becomes available to activate your lottery application. Enrollment forms are not provided to participants until a seat is offered to your child.
  5. Eligibility for the lottery is determined by the guidelines set forth by Kenter Canyon Charter petition approved by LAUSD Board of Education. Integration rations will be maintained in accordance with court mandates and LAUSD guidelines.
  6. Students who reside in the attendance area of our elementary campus are eligible for enrollment without participating in the lottery (Residents can use LAUSD’s Resident School Identifier to determine eligible schools for a given home address). Enrollment packets for residential students will be available on April 22, 2019. Verification of birth (which is a birth certificate, not a hospital certificate), immunization health record, and proof of residence (which is a utility bill – but not a telephone or cable bill) are required.  Registration enrollment packets are not provided to lottery participants until you have been notified that space is available for you.
  7. If additional information is needed, please contact Kenter Canyon Elementary Charter School at (310) 472–5918.
