Kenter Canyon highly values service to our community as a significant part of our students’ growth, development, and outlook. We support two wonderful community service programs and encourage all of our families to get involved.
Access Books provides quality, high-interest books to inner-city schools and community libraries, where at least 90% of students live at or below the poverty line. Every year, Kenter Canyon organizes a book drive where students can donate books to be used for a library at an inner-city school. After all the books are collected, Kenter students and families deliver the books to the school and spend the day refurbishing the library and cataloging the books. Read more about this year’s book drive here.
Holidays From the Heart serves patient families at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles who are financially unable to provide for themselves and their children during the holidays. Every holiday season, Kenter adopts one family per grade level through Holidays From the Heart and purchases, wraps and delivers gifts for every family member.
While our involvement will no doubt enrich the lives of each program recipient, we also hope these experiences will impress upon our children to develop a heart of compassion, increase awareness of the diversity in our community, and cultivate a lifestyle of helping others.
