Workshops:

TECHNICOLOR LANDSCAPES with Ms. Deborah Grades: TK-5

In this painting workshop we will explore the landscapes Ms Deborah loves and learn to express not only what we see but what we feel with bold lines and bright colors.

FLORAL DESIGN with Jessica Begum Grades: TK-5

Come have fun learning the basics of floral design and listen to classical music along with professional florist and Kenter parent Jessica Begum.  Students will learn about composition and color theory as they make their very own fresh flower arrangement to take home!

MUD CLOTH PAINTING FROM AFRICA with Kathy Leader Grades: TK-5

Students will make their own mud paint. They will look at the mud cloths from Mali as inspiration for their geometric designs drawn onto raw canvas. They will then paint in the spaces with the “mud paint”.

PORTRAIT DRAWING FROM LIFE IN CHARCOAL with Lucille Smithson Grades: 2-5

Come along and learn how to draw a portrait from life with a model. You will learn how to compose (and fit) your drawing within the surface and work observationally from the general to the specific. Using form and value will help make your portrait feel more three dimensional. This is a good introduction for children interested in portraiture and observational drawing and sketching.”

YARN, BEADS AND RANDOM THINGS ON BURLAP with Sumer Dundov Grades: TK-5

Create a wonderful wall hanging using your fine motor skills and eye for color in this stitching workshop. There will be beads and random objects for you to add your own artistic flair.

ABSTRACT PAINTING with Rebecca Youssef Grades: TK-5

Come explore the ideas of line, shape and color in this abstract painting workshop using unconventional painting tools and methods with artist and Kenter parent Rebecca Youseff.

SKETCHBOOK CLUB with Ms. Ana Grades: TK-5

Ideas come from places and one of those places for an artist is the sketchbook. Come learn techniques like crosshatching, shading and the value of good old fashioned doodling to awaken your inner artist with pencils and markers. The sketchbook will be yours to keep.

STILL LIFE WITH STENCIL WATERCOLOR RESIST with Ms. Shira Grades: TK-5

Beginning with a stencil students will outline the shape of a still life and then fill in the details with a black marker. They will then polish off the look with the ever popular oil pastel and watercolor resist technique.

MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE ON BOARD Teacher TBD Grades: TK-5

Many artists incorporate collage into their practice as a way to pay respect to the environment and get their creative juices flowing. The possibilities are endless in this workshop as students manipulate the materials with glue on board to create their own one of a kind creations.

CLAY ANIMALS with Ms. Tatiana Grades: 2-5

Using an air dry clay students will roll, mold, carve and manipulate clay into an animal of their choosing being mindful of techniques learned in the past so that the animals stand the test of time. (Students will be provided a container to transport their animal home safely.)
